I feel deeply honoured and grateful to be the first ethnic minority to receive this award . I am born and raised in Hong Kong. Although my skin colour and background is different, Hong Kong is my home.
I have faced prejudice, with my abilities questioned due to my ethnic minority status. Nevertheless, I have persevered. I firmly believe that through hard work, I can prove myself and contribute to this society .
As an educator, I firmly believe language learning should be joyful. I aspire to inspire ethnic minority individuals to learn Cantonese, while helping Chinese students master English through play. I firmly believe in the “learning through play” approach in my teaching.
I hope my story inspires other young people from minority backgrounds. Don’t be limited by your identity – believe in yourself, work hard, and you can thrive in this land. Let’s build a more inclusive Hong Kong together.
